Holiday traffic enforcement boosted in British Columbia
The Attorney General Brian Smith and Transportation Minister Alex Fraser announced intensified holiday season traffic enforcement across British Columbia. Impaired driving is highlighted as Canada’s most prevalent crime, with road blocks and saturation patrols planned in December and January using Breath Analysis Testing Mobile vans. Convictions trigger automatic six month driving prohibitions, fines, and criminal records, while roadside suspensions can be imposed if impairment is suspected. Drivers with past violations risk longer suspensions after review by the Motor Vehicle Superintendent. Public transportation is urged if drinking.
