Chetwynd To Host Hears On Three Tree Farm Licences
Public hearings are set for three TFL applications in central and northern British Columbia. Minister Tom Waterland notes that Tree Farm Licences offer permanence and stronger forest management incentives for operators. Canfor’s and Dunkley’s licences are among those scheduled, with dates in late February and November 1983.

Chetwynd student makes provincials
Anne Currie a Grade 11 student from Chetwynd High School has been chosen as one of thirty four girls in British Columbia to play on the Pacific Rim Volleyball Team. The team, started in 1976 by the BC Volleyball Association, will tour Hawaii California Taiwan Japan and South America with travel and study arranged to keep academics on track.

At the December 20 meeting Council accepted for information a funding request from the Chetwynd Area Community Resources Society for preschool equipment. Mike Schmok thanked staff for courteous service to officials and wished success to the new council. Peace River Liard Regional District approved 9000 for recreation and study plans and the letter was accepted for information. A Catholic Church tax exemption matter for Our Lady of Peace was discussed as well.

Deputy Clerk Receives Municipal Certification
At a Board of Examiners meeting Mr Douglas Fleming deputy clerk for the District of Chetwynd earned an Intermediate Certificate in Municipal Administration. The board under the Municipal Act issues Certificates of Administration to local government workers based on academic work and experience. Mayor Charles Lasser received a letter from C H L Woodward inspector of municipalities and chairman praising Fleming’s achievement.
