Moberly Lake flood saves campers and homes on south shore

A camper truck plunged from a bridge into floodwater near Moberly Lake at about 11 30 am trapping the rear on the bridge. Brian Anderson arrived as a occupant returned with help and rescued a 2 year old child two women and a grandfather. The north side faced worsening conditions as waves two to three feet battered houses and a 8 foot culvert blockage threatened Camp Sagitawa. A community effort including Fire Department CB radio network and local backhoes freed the culvert and aided 15 families about 50 people. Road access to the south side was lost by 3 00 pm and the highway closed.
