Logger pleads guilty in Crown land logging case

Alphonse Paul Germain was fined 1000 for logging on private land adjacent to Crown land without proper boundary marking near the McKearney Ranch on Halfway River. About 544 cubic meters of timber worth an estimated 52000 were cut and moved from Crown land facing environmental sensitivity. Germain, contractor for Eagle Crest Properties of Quesnel, cited inadequate boundary marking. Judge Cleaveley urged independent judgment and noted Crown land logging cannot be condoned.
