Fall Festival Draws Chanute Entries and Street Dance
Exhibits for the Chanute Fall Festival were accepted in crops, gardens, baked and canned goods with judging set for tomorrow morning at the exhibit building. A free downtown street dance opens the three day celebration tonight with music by Richard Pearman and his Rhythm Boys from Iola.

An RB 47 plane from Forbes Air Force Base crashed on takeoff during a weather mission, killing four crew members Lt Col James G Woolbright 1st Lt Paul R Greenwalt Capt Bruce R Kowal and S Sgt Myron L Curtis. The crash occurred about 2000 yards from the main runway near Topeka Kansas.

At 5 05 p m at 12th and Santa Fe Howard J Almond and Calvin K Davis both tried to pass a car stopped for a left turn causing minor damage to Davis Ford. About 8 05 a m a 1956 Chevrolet driven by Harry Williamson struck a parked DeSoto owned by Harry Johnson causing $50 damage with $15 more to Williamson’s bumper.

Fugitive Escapees From Larned Hospital Tracked Near La Crosse
