Pumping water from the Bark er pool north of Chanute for city use is moving smoothly today. Officials cannot say when water will reach the municipal plant as the Neosho River bed is very dry and must fill downstream pools first. Pumping began yesterday with an initial estimate of at least three days before water reaches the plant. In Chanute, the Teachers Association meeting included group singing and a playful verse about pie ingredients followed by a dessert spill among servers during dinner.

LAREDO Texas four Air Force fliers perished when two T33 jet trainers collided above Hirsch Field eighteen miles east of Laredo. Independence Kansas reports three deaths in a two car crash ten miles south of town. Ralph Blackett 49 Coffeyville auto dealer died at Coffeyville hospital.
