Seven Children Die In Bus Train Crash
A St Louis to Baltimore passenger train rammed a loaded school bus at a grade crossing in western Maryland killing seven of the 26 children aboard and seriously injuring eight to ten others. The bus stalled at the crossing. the driver Leroy Campbell said he opened the door to evacuate, then the train hit the bus broadside at about 20 mph. A 37 year old father of four, James S. Nigh of Shawnee, died when his jeep overturned on K-10 in Shawnee after striking a car emerging from a side street.
