Eight Die In Two Car Wichita Crash
Eight persons perished in a two car collision east of Wichita with a ninth in critical condition. Six 15 year olds from Wichita died in the first car identified as Diane Ralston Craig Miller Carolyn Hull Lyle Moore Jack Todd and Mary Newsom. Carol Merrill died later at St Josephs Hospital. Dave Saxe 17 was in critical danger and Henry Kindred 21 died at hospital. Don Copening 18 in fair condition. Copening and Saxe were believed drivers. The second car occupant Don Copening and Henry Kindred had attended a Udall football game and were en route to pick up Coppings mother. Another car victim status undetermined. This was the second major Wichita area crash in two weeks.
