Halloween activities draw hundreds to Chanute events
Chanute youths complete a five day Halloween program with a four feature movie at People's Theater at 7 pm. Free showings funded by the American Legion VFW and Elks include My Dog Buddy Carnival Story and two spook shows Attack of the Giant Leeches and Screaming Skull. A large bonfire in City Park followed a trash pickup. A Main Street street dance featured the Dew Drops band and free merchant refreshments for a Memorial Fund.

Break-in at Old's Grocery Stole 250 Dollars in Cash and Checks
Police report a burglary at Old's Grocery 502 N Grant where between 250 and 300 dollars in cash and checks were taken from a cash register.
