Neewollah Week begins Monday in Independence running through Oct. 30. Queen Neelah will be crowned at the start of the festival with 36 candidates competing for the title at Memorial Hall Tuesday night. Talent, poise and other criteria decide the winner.

Vaccinations Begin Friday For Adults With Chronic Illness
The Neosho County Health Department will offer the combination Swine and A Victoria flu vaccine from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the Central Park Community Center. Eligible individuals include those aged 25 to 44 with chronic diseases and everyone 45 and older. Transportation assistance is available through the Red Cross at 431-9670.
