Car Tractor Crash Fatal To Wichitan Near Thayer
Robert M. Riker a 33 year old Wichita salesman died in a crash on US 169 seven miles south of Thayer when his station wagon rammed the rear of a farm tractor. Albert T. Stafford 53 of Thayer driver of the tractor was treated for injuries and released. Riker’s body was recovered from the wreck and taken to Engel Funeral Home Thayer then to Augusta for funeral services. The accident, the fourth traffic death in Neosho County this year, involved a 1962 Chevrolet destroyed and a 1961 International tractor damaged at about 7 o’clock.

In Cardin Oklahoma two miners were buried when an 80 foot ceiling pillar collapsed. Jim France aged 53 was recovered near a loader, William Wilson 43 remains missing. Parsonian Charlies Johns, 68, died Wednesday in a funeral home where his wife’s body awaited burial. Mrs. Johns, 62, died earlier Wednesday morning. Johns, a retired farmer, died of a heart attack. Double funeral services are planned for Friday.
