Expansion program at H. K. Porter Co large new building

Thomas Durkin, manager, said the Chanute Works division will add about 6,650 square feet in a 50 by 120 foot precast block facility with a 36 inch vulcanizing oven and gas fired oven. The project, due by Nov 1, will relocate the existing eight by 24 foot unit and free 4,500 square feet for other uses.

Boat Explosion Injures Nineteen At State Fair

Nineteen persons were injured when a paddlewheel pleasure boat exploded in a shallow lagoon at the State Fair of Texas Tuesday night. Firemen said gasoline fumes from the boat's inboard engine apparently caused the blast.

Bicycle Boy, 7, Injured in Main Street Collision

Sammy Nooteboom, seven, of 201 Wilson Avenue, was struck by a car at 902 West Main around 4 30 p m yesterday. He was taken to Neo Sho Memorial Hospital by ambulance, examined, and released. A group of 20 Chanute business men joined an annual crops and livestock tour sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce agriculture committee.
