In Dallas a 12-year-old boy was carried nearly a mile through a storm sewer by swift floodwater after a downpour. Paul Ernest Buckner Jr. said he and a friend played in gutters, lay in the water, and were carried along until he exited at a drainage ditch. He suffered bruised ribs and skinned knees.
The Episcopal Church executive council approved a 5000 grant for the defense of five men convicted in a Wichita robbery case tied to a Kansas City War on Poverty official. Bishop Edward C. Turner criticized the move as irresponsible and warned clergy of possible embarrassment in local communities. Funds go to the Kansas Legal Defense Fund for appeals to the Kansas Supreme Court.
In Hayward California over 100 demonstrators began a week long fast titled The Hunger Show to dramatize fears of global starvation amid overpopulation. Spokesman Bill Geetz said the event aims to show what the world may face within 15 years. The participants lived behind plastic walls in an enclosure with basic facilities and slept in sleeping bags labeled liferaft earth.
Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins visited West Berlin with their wives to cheers from tens of thousands at John F Kennedy Square and a large street crowd as part of a world tour ending with a stop in London.

Weather and city flood report from Neosho note 5.13 inches of weekend rainfall at Martin Johnson Airport FAA station. Neosho River rises 17.6 feet in 24 hours, crest expected near 25 feet by Tuesday. Frost warning issued tonight with temperatures dropping to mid 30s.
The Weather Bureau issued a freeze warning for all of Kansas as a weekend storm dropped up to 11 inches of snow in the northwest and heavy rainfall in the east. Temperatures fall from the 40s to the 30s or lower with lingering flood warnings on several rivers and icy road conditions reported in multiple counties.

Brant’s body found at the scene. Midcap critically injured. Car a 1968 Dodge owned by Midcap. Investigators probing driver identity and exact time. Memorial services set for Midcap Tuesday and Brant later this week. Midcap survived by parents sister son daughter and grandmother. Brant survived by parents sister and grandmother. Funeral arrangements handled by Johnson Mortuary and Gibson Koch Chapel.
Police report a break in at Olson's Supermarket Saturday night with plate glass shattered in front doors and an opening knocked in the west wall. An undetermined number of watches were stolen while no other items were listed missing. Employee Ray Morse alerted police Sunday after discovering the damaged front entry.
