Fiery crash kills professor and nine coeds from Trenton State
In North Brunswick New Jersey a tank truck rammed a bus carrying 40 Trenton State College students home from a theater party. Professor Ernest Sixta 40 of Cedar Rapids Iowa was killed along with nine coeds. Eleven students were hospitalized with burns and injuries. The accident occurred on rainy Rt 1 near Rutgers University farm as two buses returned from New York City after a performance of J B. The truck driver Roscoe Poe 54 of Brooklyn was trapped then freed as the tank exploded.

Kansan's Death Prior To Crash in Utah
An autopsy found Harold E. Gifford a 59 year old Kansas tourist died of a coronary occlusion before a Bryce Canyon National Park crash. His wife suffered minor injuries when their car left the road and struck a tree. She was hospitalized at Panguith Utah. A road crew flagman said he saw Gifford slumped over the wheel.

In Fenton Michigan a fire engulfed a wooden wing of the Tryon castle display where four children slept on the second floor. Shirley McKuen 14 and brothers Lawrence 13 Stanley 11 and Donald 10 died. Their mother Grace Tryon and husband William escaped. The blaze was blamed on an improvised shield over an oil burner in the girl's room. The main castle building of stone brick and concrete suffered little damage.

55 Handicapped Hired During Year in Area

Two unidentified gunmen robed the First National Bank of Collyer about 2:45 PM taking $821 after forcing cashier James Walsh and fleeing in a blue and white Ford toward U S 40. Walsh and Scott Bailey saw the car leaves with license number. bandits described as 20 to 25 years old, one wearing a stocking mask. Collyer lies 13 miles west of Wa Keeney.

Driver Arrested On Four Counts After County Road Crash
Henry Kinsch Jr. 23 of Parsons Route 1 was arrested by highway patrol on four traffic counts after a one car crash eight miles south of Chanute around 3:30 p m yesterday. He faces charges of driving while intoxicated reckless driving driving while license suspended and unlawful tag use. He was to be sent to Erie for an appearance in justice of the peace court. Kinsch lost control of a 1947 Chevrolet, struck a ditch and embankment, then blocked the road. He was treated at Neosho Memorial Hospital for a head bump and refused a blood alcohol test. The sheriff s office and Chanute police assisted.
