Bridge Collapse Clips Cement Truck On Highway K146
A 100 foot steel and concrete bridge on highway K146 west of here collapsed under a loaded ready mix cement truck around 9 am. The truck owner Hy Grade Construction and Materials Co. no injuries reported. Sheriff George Neely said the bridge pulled loose from both piers and fell into the creek bed. A temporary shoo fly detour will be built across the creek but may flood with rises.

Pilot Jumps Plane Crashes Near Kansas City
Maj Floyd T. Wood says 2nd Lt. Jan Rozendall of Burlington Vermont bailed out shortly before the Vermont Air National Guard jet crashed south of Kansas City.
