Kansas Republicans held early leads in scattered returns across all offices including both U S Senate seats and the governorship. Voter turnout appeared heavy in Topeka and Wichita with forecasts predicting near record participation. The first returns favored Carlson Pearson and Anderson with several congressional races showing Republican leads.
Scattered returns from Topeka and Atchison indicate early tallies in Kansas races. Dole and Avery lead in the 1st and 2nd districts while Shubitz and Shriver head gubanatorial and state offices for their parties. Local precincts in Johnson County and Atchison report incomplete counts.
A district court action for 5085.50 and costs is filed by 13 year old De anna Patterson through her father Kenneth Patterson against Charles Lynn Erick alleging permanent injuries from a Jan 7 1961 car crash near Royster Junior High. The petition cites injuries to her right leg and nervous shock that disrupted gym classes and schoolwork with 85.50 in medical expenses and a 5000 claim for impairments.
New York AP Zsa Zsa Gabor wed her fourth husband industrialist Herbert Hutner in a ceremony described as the culmination of a romance that began with love at first sight. She recalled spotting him at a ball three weeks earlier and deciding to win him away from another woman.
W A Goldsmith a 60 year old mechanical superintendent of the Coffeyville Daily Journal died Monday night after a stroke he suffered October 27. He joined the Journal in 1925 and became superintendent in 1932. He served as president of the Kansas Newspaper Mechanical Conference in 1958.
Hollywood actor Alan Ladd was shot in the chest in an accidental discharge at his Hidden Valley Ranch home in Ventura County. He described hearing a noise, grabbing a gun, and tripping before the weapon fired. he is recovering in a San Fernando Valley hospital and investigators accept his account with no further inquiry.
Beulah C. Bishop 44 of Sandy Utah faces first degree murder charges in the death of her mother Lulu B. Lindsey 74 in Hutchinson Kansas. A mental examination will be requested. Bishop admitted inflicting internal abdominal injuries and ramming her hand down her mother's throat during the attack.
Kansas traffic death log shows 11 fatalities in 24 hours to 9 am Tuesday. The November tally reaches 11 deaths, with 1962 year total at 495 compared to 449 in the 1961 period.
The weather service predicts widespread fair skies for today’s elections with sunny conditions in most regions. Exceptions include parts of Texas and the northwest Midwest and Northeast, plus the north central Rockies and north Pacific Coast. Snow flurries are seen in the central and northern Rockies and parts of the north Atlantic states with showers possible in the southern and northern plains and upper Mississippi Valley. Warmer weather is forecast from the Rockies to the Atlantic seaboard to boost turnout.

US oil production last week fell modestly with a rise of 4 200 barrels a day from the prior week. The Oil and Gas Journal reported an average daily output of 7 336 550 barrels of crude oil and lease condensate. Oklahoma declined 15 200 to 535 600 and Kansas dropped 8 200 to 308 650 barrels per day.

Henry C. Dorst, 54, of Kansas City Kansas, was electrocuted at Spring Rock Quarries when a crane severed a 12,000 volt line that fell onto equipment he was handling, according to coroner Charles Larkin.
Washington sources say the Soviet Union may be assembling IL28 bombers in Cuba while signals hint at possible withdrawal under Khrushchev. U.S. officials report continued uncrating and assembly of jets, with McCloy pressing Kuznetsov in New York for removal of planes and missiles under international inspection. In the governor race John Pillsbury won 21 votes and Democrat John King one vote.
India plans to pull out its 5700 strong Congo brigade and assess Gaza 1250 forces while training civilians in mountain areas to shoot as China overruns 2000 square miles of border. The move follows a Chinese advance and U Thant informed. Daulet Beg Oldi base near Ladakh abandoned as line tightens.

Buffalo resident Roy Saubers, about 20, suffered a finger loss in a drilling aid accident northeast of here today. He caught the finger in a shaft mechanism and was taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital at Chanute for treatment.
Judge John E. Santora Jr reports more than a 50 percent drop in teen- age violators in Municipal Court since last summer. Six youths serve as an advisory teen- age jury from the Youth Council on Civic Affairs, shaping outcomes. One offender feared fooling the judge but not the teen-agers.
OLATHE Kan AP officers seized about 4000 dollars worth of property from a house in Overland Park Monday night. Some items were stolen including business machines camera equipment typewriters and household appliances. A machine matched a serial number from a theft at Skyline School near Hermitage Missouri. A Missouri warrant charging burglary and grand larceny was issued for John B Bromson who lives in the house. Three other men were being sought.
The Board of Education approved a general obligation bond issue of 46 500 for buying a school site. Bonds issued to First National Bank of Chanute at 2.34 percent, due in thirds Sept 1 1964 1965 and 1966 with semiannual interest March 1 1964. Conversion from a special building fund funded land purchase of 50 acre tract. A two mill levy over two years will retire bonds. land use not yet specified. Dr Don Abbuehl named to Kansas Association of School Boards delegate, Salina meeting Dec 8.
A public hearing is set for December 4 at 9 30 a m in the Lyon County courthouse Emporia to discuss establishing a National Wildlife Refuge at John Redmond Reservoir. Tulsa Corps of Engineers and U S Fish and Wildlife Service announce the plan as construction proceeds along the Neosho River near Burlington for flood control and water conservation. Public input is requested with six copies of written arguments.
Mrs Franklin D Roosevelt, seriously ill in New York, cannot vote today even by absentee ballot. A family spokesman said she had no absentee ballot because she could not vote herself at Hyde Park as usual after entering hospital at the end of September. Her condition was described as resting quietly and unchanged.
TOPEKA AP Airman 3 C Bachman 21 of Forbes Air Force Base died Monday from injuries from an accident that killed another airman. Bachman home was Sebewaing Michigan and he served in the 815th Headquarters Squadron. The car veered off a curve near Burlingame Sunday. Airman 3 C James Flynn 19 of Harwood Pennsylvania died a few hours after the crash.
An explosion in a Spitzbergen coal mine 650 feet underground killed ten miners and left eleven others missing and presumed dead, authorities said. Governor Finn Backer Midboe confirmed the toll as rescuers struggled to reach the workers.
