Name Change Brings Trouble

A Chanute Tribune reader asks Ann Landers about publishing letters and changing signatures to protect identities. The column explains letters printed unless asked not to, occasional signature changes, and a don’t-overstep on privacy. It also answers questions about a 40-year-old woman living alone and hosting a date, advising midnight as a reasonable latest invitation time and that a man should escort to the door. A domestic dispute over surprise guests is judged: dads should not surprise guests at dinner and moms should avoid anger in front of visitors.
