Fort Lauderdale reports 10 000 students on the beach expected to triple by next weekend with 40 000 at Daytona Beach as new anti drinking laws curb mass beer drinking. Ormond Beach enacts a three week ban while pubs inland stay busy amid chilly winds and strained housing.
Percy Foreman says an offer of 175000 for movie rights to James Earl Ray story was made by Carlo Ponti to William Bradford Huie. Foreman would take 60 percent of the proceeds from film magazine and book rights, planning to place excess in a trust for Ray's family.
A defense analyst says the Vietnam war will leave a vast pool of usable weapons from the United States, Russia, and China available for surplus sale. He notes hundreds of thousands of arms, from small guns to aircraft, may be traded with few restraints beyond original ownership.

More than 3,000 U S Marines and South Vietnamese infantry backed by an American armored unit push toward the Laotian border as part of Operation Maine Crag aimed at cutting North Vietnamese supply lines. Since March 15, 43 enemy dead and 2 prisoners reported. 10 Americans killed, 64 wounded. The drive targets Highway 926 and the Vandegrift base, with parallels to the Khe Sanh siege.
Foreign Minister Abdel Monem Rifai is asked to form a new government as Prime Minister Bahjat Talhouni resigns. King Hussein plans a U.S. visit with President Nixon and UN Secretary General U Thant. Rifai previously led Jordan’s UN representation and diplomacy in London and Washington.

Cease-fire calls from U.N. observers were ignored until noon. both sides blamed the other for initiating fire from the canal’s southern end to El Qantara. Israel reported no casualties or damage.
William Kimble a 32 year old Augusta High School biology instructor received Kansas Jaycees Outstanding Young Educator award at a Sunday meeting. He serves as president of the Augusta Kiwanis and director of the Big Brothers Association in Butler County. Runners up were Dennis Wright and Carol Eileen Adams.
Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower selected to receive the 1969 Atoms for Peace Award carrying a $50,000 honorarium for distinguished contributions to the peaceful use of atomic energy.
