The tourist promotion committee of the Chamber of Commerce split into two sub committees to pursue a permanent museum site and a local exhibit for museum trophies. Dr. James A. Butin chairs the museum group and Dr. Ed Cathers heads the promotions group. The exhibit at East Main drew 2,026 visitors in 36 hours, funding the $92 decorating bill. A firecracker exploded in a car on Third Street injuring a child riding in the back seat.
