Fatal Car Truck Collision Near Scott City
Arthur J. Smith 58 of Cimarron died in Scott City hospital from injuries after a two vehicle crash eight miles north. Marvin Wright Jr. also of Cimarron was seriously injured. Leo LaShell of Utica Kansas the truck driver was unhurt. The wreck occurred at the intersection of U S 83 and a county road.

Five Months Jail Sentence for Local Offenses
Robert L. Phillips of Chanute received a total five months in jail after pleading guilty in police court to intoxication malicious mischief and disturbing the peace. Judge pro tempore John N. Sherman Jr. gave Phillips 90 days for disturbing the peace and 30 days each for intoxication and malicious mischief to run consecutively. Officers said Phillips entered the C B Wilson home on South Santa Fe Monday night to upset furniture break a jar of grape juice and dump coffee maker contents on a kitchen range. He was jailed in Erie by Sheriff J Lee Montgomery.

Tanker Crash Fatal to 11 at Walker AFB New Mexico
An Air Force KC97 four engine refueling tanker crashed near Walker Air Force Base in southeastern New Mexico killing 11 aboard.
