Women Investors Grow More Sophisticated in Stock Markets
AP report notes women hold a growing share of private wealth and participate in investing and trading. Howard F. Wortham of Trainer Wortham & Co says women can be highly capable but remain prone to greed and poor stock picks when acting alone. The firm now offers supervisory service for accounts $25,000 to $100,000, charging 1 percent and requiring full account handling. Wortham, a bachelor, observes women increasingly seek counsel and are less swayed by young, personable advice.
