Denver unveils a new helicopter mounted camera system called eye in the sky. It streams to police and fire stations to monitor fires and high crime areas from headquarters. The $200000 system targets August 1 operation with initial $137000 contract.
Federal prosecutor says $394000 of the $15 million stock securities stolen in 1968 was recovered with the arrest of William E. Lambert at Will Rogers World Airport. Lambert remains in custody on a $20000 bond as authorities note most securities remain missing with some turning up in Sweden Puerto Rico and South American countries.
The U.S. destroyer Frank E. Evans skipper testified a daily message outlining expected escort plans for the Melbourne was not received before the collision that killed 74 Americans. The message covered 24 hours from June 2 into early June 3 and was not an order.
A U S district jury acquitted a police sergeant and two patrolmen on charges they beat a newspaper reporter during street violence at the Democratic National Convention.
