Seven cars of the Chicago and North Western Railway 400 passenger train derailed on a bluff in St. Croix County near Wilson Hill. Crash on Turnpike Claims Two Lives in Kansas
ADMIRE Kansas two men were killed and a third injured when a truck struck two vehicles parked along the Kansas Turnpike near Admire. The dead are Dorrance True Richardson 33 of Sedgwick and Phillip V Schaefer 20 of Emporia. Lester Ray Davis 38 of Lincoln Missouri had a fractured leg and shock and was hospitalized. Authorities say Schaefer was changing a tire when a Kaw gasoline transport driven by Davis crashed into the trucks. Richardson apparently dozed at the wheel.

National Guards Leave For Wyoming Camp

Youth Arrested Here Solves Caney Holdup Four Charged
Chanute police arrested a young construction worker at Ash Grove Lime and Portland cement Co. and four men were later held on first degree robbery charges for the Caney service station holdup. Jim Holt 23 Neodesha led to the arrests naming three accomplices Berger 20 Neodesha Adams 21 Neodesha and Samuel Lee Trogden 18 from Kentucky. The four admitted planning and taking part in the Caney robbery and car thefts in Neodesha, with the holdup occurring about 3 a.m. Tuesday at Earl Black’s Kinnamon service station in Caney. The group fled in a stolen 1956 Oldsmobile after taking fuel and binding the attendant. Police traced the lot to Holt through Kentucky plates and blanket bindings. They were held in Independence on the robbery charges.
