A shower for Mr and Mrs Theron Kinne will be held at 7 30 p m Monday at Shaw schoolhouse to aid a Riverview school district relief effort after their home and furniture burned Sunday morning in the northwest area. Refreshments and a short program are planned. The drive is sponsored by the Riverview district formed from Shaw and No 7 districts.

Fort Scott car hits bull on US 69 injures none
A 1940 Plymouth driven by John Wrench of Fort Scott struck a large black Angus bull 15 miles south of Fort Scott on US 69. Passengers Mr and Mrs Everett Simms were not hurt. The bull suffered a broken leg after the broadside collision.

Intruders Loot Four Rural Schools in Montgomery Labette
Four area schools suffered break ins Tuesday night in Montgomery and Labette counties. Parker district school near Coffeyville and three Labette schools Union No. 1 Angola and Valeda were damaged with broken windows, scattered books, and desks harmed. Union principal Ruth Duryea described the scene as riotlike. Separately, Tri-State Registered Angus Breeders formed at Liberty School Girard with temporary officers Roy Wilkerson Nels Smith and Don Mitchell and set a March 1 meeting at Liberty School.

Mrs King in Critical Condition After Car Crash
Mrs Shirley B King aged 19 of Humboldt remains unconscious after a one car crash north of Thayer last Friday night. An attending physician at Neosho Memorial Hospital said her condition remains critical. She was ejected when the car swerved from US Highway 169 and wrecked in a roadside ditch.

Piqua Bank Bandit Identified in Critical Condition
James R. Howard 25, a parolee from Hutchinson, was identified as the Piqua bank bandit who robbed the Piqua State Bank of 2140 yesterday and was found with 2063.44 in and around his wrecked car after trying to elude a roadblock south of Eureka Kansas. He is also wanted for forging a $15 check at a local store on Oct 17, 1953.
