One-Car Crash Fatal Near Hartford Claims Hartford Man
In Emporia area, Thomas Dill 30 of Hartford died after a single vehicle left the road on K130 a half mile north of Hartford and rolled over twice. Passenger George Stuck 19 of Emporia was injured but not believed to be seriously hurt. Sheriff officers stated the car failed to make a curve before the rollover.

Two members of a family died and two others fell sick in Concordia Kansas from carbon monoxide poisoning. Mrs. Herbert Hare 23 and her daughter Kimberley 1 part of the victims. Mrs Hare's husband and six month old son Trenton Mack Hare were hospitalized with the boy listed as out of danger. A gas company manager said a faulty flue connected to a small circulating heater likely caused the poisoning.

Right of Way Okay For U.S. 69 Stretch
The Kansas Highway Commission approved acquiring 7.4 miles of right of way to relocate U S 69 in Linn County. Woman Found Dead in Chanute Home
Mrs. Ethel Youngberg, 48, was found dead in a Chanute residence between 4 and 4:30 p.m. She had been shot twice in the chest with a .22 automatic rifle kept in an adjoining closet. Police called it apparent self-inflicted death. Her husband reported returning home to a locked house and forcing entry. She had a history of emotional disturbance and was under outpatient hospital treatment. She had been in Parsons earlier, possibly returning by taxi to Chanute. Survivors include her husband, a son John H. Miller of Independence, her parents Floyd and Mrs. Hadley of Bolton, and a brother Ira Hadley of Independence. Funeral set for Friday at Johnson Mortuary with burial at Jefferson, near Independence.

Pants pickles end with razor rescue in Kansas City
A 27 year old Butler Missouri housewife could not remove purple capri pants in a Kansas City department store after 15 minutes of futile tugging. Her aunt aided but the trio failed. The mother then used a razor to cut the woman free at home after the $3.98 purchase.

Shotgun Accident Fatal to Buy
Tommy Munro aged 11 was fatally shot when a .410 shotgun accidentally discharged at his Kansas City home. Brother Jerry, 15, said the gun slid to the floor and fired as he grabbed it. Tommy died at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Jerry was hospitalized in shock. The gun had been a Christmas present two years prior.
