Crash Near Fredonia Leaves One Dead Three Hurt

A two car crash on Highway K96 five miles north of Fredonia killed Edgar T. Beall of Wichita and injured his wife Kay and daughter Patsy along with Mary Alice Higgins of Lamar Missouri. The collision occurred about 8:45 this morning and was investigated by Sheriff Charles A. Spohn and Trooper Bob Hazlett. The national holiday traffic toll rose to 68 fatalities by midmorning with 584 total deaths expected in the three day period.

Bandit Takes 7370 At Wichita Bank Robbery

A Wichita bank robber escaped into Christmas shoppers after taking 7870 from Southwest National Bank in downtown Wichita. Teller Doris Meyers described the note demanding money and implied threat. the robber left on foot about 3 p.m. Bowden, the bank comptroller, reported the loss.

Two Injured In Accident At Lincoln and Walnut

Mrs. Oliver H. Roush 55 of Humboldt suffered a possible collar bone fracture and internal injuries when her car collided at the Lincoln and Walnut intersection with a car driven by E. C. Woodcock of Kansas City around 10 40 a m. Their daughter Rebecca Ann four received minor injuries. Both mother and child were taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Police investigated noting Woodcock traveled north on Lincoln while Roush went east on Walnut. Vehicle damage was reported to the front of the Woodcock car and the right side of the Roush car.

One Killed as Three-Car Crash Injures Six Near Coffeyville

Forrest Stanley Smith of Caney Kansas died in a head on collision with Leonard Koonce of New Salem Kansas. Six members of Koonce and Miller families, including Carl Miller 37, Helen Miller 31, Karen Keeterman 10, and Carl Keeterman 6, were injured and hospitalized.

Youth Injured In Car Mishap Near Chanute

Ray Bonilla age 19 from Forest was hospitalized at Neosho Memorial Hospital with a back injury after a car he rode in wrecked one mile north of Chanute last night. The car owned by Bonilla and driven by Jess Garza 18 of Little Mexico lost control while passing, struck a culvert end and collided with a parked car at the Ray Winder home driveway. Garza and passenger Frank Rodriguez Chanute were uninjured. the parked car sustained heavy damage. Sheriff Lee Montgomery and local officers investigated the scene.
