The L. M. Dannenberg house at 1201 N. Garfield was named Chanute’s best Christmas decorated home in Kiwanis Club judging. Second place went to Harry E. Wilson at 21 S. Larson. ward winners include Howard Winans, Byrle Haynes, Bill Peters and C. D. Blackwood with several honorable mentions. Judging was by the Kiwanis decorations committee. token prizes total 18 dollars, awarded for citywide and ward placements.

Maudry Ambler, daughter of B H Ambler, has a poem titled The Coming of Christmas published in the December issue of Student Life, a magazine of the National Education Assn. Written in Youth's Thoughts while a ninth grade Royster Junior High student, she is now a Kansas City senior per Royster Principal Paul Parsons. Winter begins with a 9:12 a.m. sunrise, temperatures varied from six to 54 degrees, drought and dry conditions persist with 30.40 inches of annual precipitation. Humboldt music teachers Marie Reynolds and Stan Gould praised after the town’s all school Christmas program at the high school gym, featuring choral pieces, piano by Gould, Dolores Perez, Robert Hiller, and James Anderson.

Frank George of Altamont dies in Oswego hospital after a paralytic stroke Tuesday and a heart attack yesterday. He founded the Altamont Journal in 1903 and later owned several papers including the Mound Valley Times Journal and Edna Sun. Survived by four daughters and three sons, funeral set for Monday at the First Methodist Church with burial in a Parsons cemetery.
