Cars Damaged In Accidents Reported By Police
Two non-injury crashes damaged three vehicles. Jesse Underwood Johnson 40 of Ottawa and Burton Barkley 76 of N Forest collided at Ash and US 169 59 around 11 35 a.m. Johnson drove a 1955 Chevrolet and Barkley a 1948 Pontiac. both cars were southbound. A separate incident on Main Street damaged Sara Sue Clifford 20 of Kansas with a right door on her 1953 Ford after being struck by Frieda Dodd backing a 1942 Buick. the Buick was undamaged. Benny Beck of El Dorado reported grille damage to his 1956 Plymouth while parked at Neosho Memorial Hospital between 9 and 11 15 a.m.

Leaves Without Release At Memorial Hospital
James R. Crisler, 23, of Wichita, checked into Memorial Hospital last Tuesday with an emergency appendectomy. He left the hospital last night without a release, possibly aided by two youths who were traveling with him. Police said no charges were filed, and the trio were questioned about a Wichita safe crack, but no hold order was issued.
Rail freight rate hikes approved by ICC nationwide
The Interstate Commerce Commission authorized Eastern railroads to raise freight rates by seven percent and Western lines by five percent with five days’ notice. Southern lines seek a seven percent increase with a hearing planned. The hikes aim to cover higher wage costs. fixed increases apply to some commodities. An ICC examiner also recommended a 15 percent rise for interstate first class passenger fares and a five percent coach fare hike.

A two car collision yesterday near Downs Kansas killed a woman and a girl and left a 15 year old boy dead today.
