Girl Friend Held For Wichitan's Death

Coffeyville Man Dies In Light Plane Crash
A Coffeyville Kansas construction worker Laurence Hoffman 59 died in a light plane crash about 10 miles east of Marshalltown Iowa. Injured were Floyd Fisher 31 also of Coffeyville and Ancil Luttrell 33 of Pittsburgh Pa. Luttrell the owner and pilot. The single engine craft struck a tree by the Iowa River and nosed into the ground. Fisher underwent surgery and was in serious condition.

Fire destroyed the Bailes Hotel in Plainville Kansas early Sunday killing Guy Hyatt aged 41 from Hutchinson and Bill Graf 22 of Victoria. Two others died later and 13 escaped with injuries. Youth Injured South of Erie After Stolen Car Crash
A 19 year old Pittsburg youth, Larry Mosier, was hospitalized in Parsons with cuts and bruises after a stolen 1952 Mercury ran off US 59 K57 junction south of Erie and struck a utility pole. Sheriff Jerry Sloan said Mosier, on parole from Hutchinson, will face car theft charges. The accident occurred between 3 and 4 am and was reported at 5 am. The car was a total loss. Highway patrol assisted in the investigation.
