Europeans Tour Ash Grove Cement Plant in Kansas City Visit
A delegation of fifteen cement plant owners and engineers from Germany Austria and Sweden toured the Ash Grove plant in Kansas City under Supt Richard Willis. Dr Wolfgang Maerker of Hamburg led the group which traveled by bus from Kansas City and met at 10 am. They lunch at Orchid Buffet and continued the tour until 2 pm before flying to Albuquerque for another plant visit en route home via Denver.

In an all afternoon session in city and police courts Judge Richard Ashley presided. Ted Bradford, 902 N Grant, a 1964 burglary parolee, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor check violation and received 15 days in county jail, held at Erie for parole officer conference. He said he wrote the check to return to state custody for more vocational training. Finley, rural Erie, challenged surrender of licenses under the financial responsibility law after an uninsured crash and was found guilty, fined 5 dollars plus 6 in costs, appeal bond set at 200 dollars. Charles Deweese, Thayer, was found guilty of failing to yield right of way and fined 50 dollars plus 5 costs, appeal bond 200 dollars. Four Chanute defendants faced arson and burglary charges with bonds at 2,000 dollars each. Ev erly's case included a petty larceny matter and a juvenile referral.
