A floor safe was punched open and coins and jewelry valued around $15,000 stolen, using five brown alligator luggage pieces to haul items away. Furs and a gun were initially believed missing but later found among the wreckage.

Burglary at AeroDuct Stole $42.75 From Cabinet
Weekend break-in at the Aero Duct plant 201 N Allen saw burglars pry open a filing cabinet and a pop machine, stealing 42.75 and unknown loose change. Entry was gained via a north wing door and a small inside window. Three other vending machines were not opened. The break-in was found by a plant employee about 6 30 a m. Sheriff George Neely assisted in the investigation.

Jensen Egg Co. closes Chanute plant after 40 years
