City Budget Seeks 4.25 Mill Levy Increase For 1968
The proposed 1968 budget calls for a total of 3 075 056 30 with a 14.75 mill levy. General operating funds would rise to 12 mills, industrial funds stay at 1 mill, and bond and interest at 1 75 mills. Utilities transfers and pension plans drive the higher levy as two new officers and equipment add to costs. A public hearing is set for August 14 at 7 30 p m at the Memorial building.

Family Of Eight Killed In Highland Crash
The Criscoe family of Oklahoma had seven killed and one later died in Highland hospital after a head on collision with a wheat-laden tractor-trailer on U S 40 five miles northeast of Highland. Nellis A. Briscoe Jr 48 an OSU agriculture economics professor and his wife Margaret 43 and their six children were en route to Purdue University. The truck driver David Adams 23 of Vandalia Illinois was in satisfactory condition at St Josephs Hospital. Police could not determine immediate cause as the wreck and cleanup closed the highway overnight.

Five Die in Tulsa Area Crash Involving College Members
Five persons died in an east of Tulsa collision on Thursday. Among the dead were Paul W. King, 18, and Thurman Coburn, 19, students at Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma, and the Rev. Paul McGrady, 42, a former Bethany Nazarene College administrator. The crash occurred when Coburn's panel truck crossed the median to collide with a car carrying Luther Clayborn, 32, and his daughter Cissna Clayborn, 10. Mrs. Mary Clayborn and Cynthia, 8, were critically injured. The party was en route to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to sing.

Police report a 12 year old girl was apprehended for shoplifting at a Kress store and referred to juvenile officer Ray Zumalt. Sometime last weekend soft drinks were poured on two 1957 Chevrolets owned by Cole Leverenzs sons, eating paint. A minor non injury crash occurred at Lincoln and Elm between Sonja Vogel and Linda Cummings with slight rear damage to the Cummings car. Another parking lot collision near Elks Club on South Central involved C Reed and Harley Frasier with minor damage to Reed’s car.
