Chanute Guard Unit Breaks Camp Today
Chanute National Guard Company A of the 174th Quartermaster Battalion leaves Chanute to Camp McCoy Wisconsin for summer field training. The unit travels by convoy and is 216 men strong with sections from Chanute Fredonia Yates Center and Coffeyville. Governor Robert Docking visited July 27, praising post operations and supporting units as Lt Ron Poor leads the supply platoon and Sgt Bert Barnes heads the section during 24 hour petroleum support and bread and laundry services delivering 16 000 men in a division and engineer group.

20-T Crawler-Crane Missing From Site
ST. LOUIS AP reports a 20 ton crawler crane with a 30 foot boom is missing from a construction site. A superintendent from George L. Cousins Construction Co. discovered the loss when he returned from vacation. Police do not know how the crane was taken.
