Chanute fire chief C W Brennan reported seven month fire loss at 4 039 showing sharp decrease from last year 0 488 68. Department made 80 runs this year vs 131 a year ago with nine runs in July down from 13. Incidents included grass fires in Tioga and Big Creek townships an oil tank fire in Danville Township a television aerial damage a rubbish fire and two cats rescued. Inspectors from the Civil Aeronautics Administration visited Chanute airport to study runway condition after recent resurfacing and rolling for smoother landings.

Car Out of Control Damages Cedar Hedge on East Eighth
