Gardner clerk charged with embezzling over $22,000

Prison Work Program Dropped After Prisoner Absence
Erie County Sheriff George Neely announced the county jail work detail program would be discontinued, at least temporarily, after a prisoner left a two man detail for about an hour. John Finley, serving a misdemeanor for resisting arrest, left the detail in a car driven by his wife and was found near a cemetery along Highway K47 southwest of Erie. Officials cited prisoner dissatisfaction with credit toward costs and better time credits, supervision gaps, and limited participation as reasons for stopping the program.
