Two Mattoon burglary suspects freed on bonds
Chanute police reported Robert Edwards and John Edwards Jr. were released in Illinois on 20000 bonds each. The Mattoon men, held on burglary of a jewelry store there and possession of burglary tools here, were returned to Illinois Monday by Chanute officers.

Truck driver survives two cow incidents near Kingman
Dale W. Boyce, a truck driver from Kingman, Kansas, avoided a cow on US 54 eleven years earlier when his tractor-trailer overturned, injuring him seriously while the cow was unscathed. On Wednesday he failed to swerve and struck a cow, escaping injury. Patrolman R A Roberts investigated both crashes, about 12 miles east of Kingman at 1:50 a.m.
