RB47 Recon Plane Attacked by North Korean MIGs
A U S RB47 reconnaissance aircraft from Forbes Air Force Base Kansas was attacked by two North Korean MIG17 fighters over the Sea of Japan about 50 miles from the Korean mainland. The plane landed safely at Yokota Base Japan with no crew injuries. The incident occurred around 11 30 p m EDT Tuesday during a routine mission.

Oxford Kansas AP report notes a coin collection valued around 6000 was taken from safety deposit boxes at Bank of Oxford. Owner Howard R K Wenrich said the collection was partly insured for 3000. Burglars cracked a vault Sunday night containing about 200 boxes. another vault with cash was left intact.

Sergeant Survives Week On Boiled Grass In Yukon
U S Army sergeant Kenneth Keen stranded a week beside a downed plane in Yukon Territory says he lived mostly on a gallon of boiled grass daily to stay alive. He was rescued after being spotted on a frozen river 58 miles west of Watson Lake. Keen, from Eielson Air Force Base Alaska, said his plane ran out of fuel while dodging a snowstorm. A doctor reported he lost 30 pounds but remained in good condition. He also ate small portions of raisins and chocolate from survival rations.
