First Mechanics Class Graduates Thirteen at Chanute
Thirteen students formed the first graduating class of the Chanute Auto Mechanics School receiving diplomas from Robert Ward, Chanute Board of Education president. Graduates hailed from Chanute Coffeyville Parsons Altoona Yates Center Independence Moran, with several already securing full time work as the nine month course ends. The next class starts Monday with sixteen area men enrolled for the second class set to run through January 21 1966.

Robert Edwards and John Edwards Jr. of Mattoon Illinois, burglary suspects, were returned to Illinois yesterday. The 1965 Chrysler convertible they drove was returned, but most cash, guns, and burglary tools stayed behind. Three thousand of five thousand dollars was used for bond on possession of burglary tools charges. Attorney fees and a ten dollar traffic fine added to costs. Bond set at twenty thousand dollars each. Illinois officers transported them back to Mattoon after questioning here. No new developments in the coin collection theft report.

Fire damages mental health center in Humboldt
A fire caused by a defective floor furnace ripped through the Allen-Neosho County Mental Health Center in Humboldt early today. Police found the blaze at 1:10 a.m. No occupants were inside. Most records were saved, with remaining files undamaged while interior smoke and water caused extensive damage to the five room converted center. Leila Myers is director. insurance status and total loss were not disclosed.

Crash Is Fatal South of Fort Scott
Fred W. Tegler, 79, of Garland, Kan., died today in a two car collision eight miles south of Fort Scott on U 69. The driver of the car Tegler rode in, Deryl L. Layton, 20, also of Garland, was injured along with Mary Snell, 20, of Hutchinson, riding with Leslie H. Angel, 57, of Hutchinson. The injured were admitted to a Fort Scott hospital.
