Leonard Roseberg and his wife found a dime and a nickel their son Gerald dropped into a crack in an old New Gott land farm window sill. The coins lay hidden until the house was torn down and plaster dug out revealing the treasure.
Kristy Smith was named 1969 Chanute Blue Comet Track Queen during the Chanute Invitational at Royster Stadium. The 16-year-old daughter of Alma Smith was crowned by team captain Tom Kirkwood. Attendants were Vicki Clements and Mary Jo Winkler, daughters of local residents Thad Clements and Joe Winkler.
