Statewide honor nominees include Chanute president Carl Hines and reporter Glen Swiler among 136 Kansas youths slated for the State Farmer degree at the 31st Kansas FFA meeting on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan April 27 28. Final action by the House of Delegates and speaker Thomas Stine, with about 1200 Future Farmers expected, and delegates from 212 local chapters.

Most Wanted Robber Nabbed In Mexico
Frank Lawrence Lorenz, a 29 year old on the FBI list of ten most wanted, was captured off the Yucatan coast by Mexican authorities and deported after entering Mexico illegally. Ohio crimes including a Hamilton bank robbery and an Akron cafe holdup are cited among his offenses. He had fled from an Akron jail break and used flight and disguise to evade capture.

City Manager Hayes Elected by League of Kansas Municipalities

Yancy Hudson, 14, of Erie R. 1, suffered a right elbow fracture and cuts when the pickup he drove overturned on a county road 12 miles east and 1.5 miles north of Shaw.
