Dallas experienced the largest audience for a tornado sighting as the April 2 event was the best documented. Weather officials call it a turning point for understanding tornado formation, potentially guiding future control efforts. Ten killed, about 200 injured, damages near four million dollars.

Officers and directors of the Chanute Building and Loan Association were reelected at the annual meeting. Robert N. Allen reported a record year with 685 loan accounts totaling 2 897 000 and loan gains of 663 000. Savings accounts reached 1 311 totaling 2 839 000 with a 454 000 gain. Total assets stood at 3 176 000 up 560 000. Customer count neared 4 000 with gains of 29 percent in loans 19 percent in savings and 21 percent in total assets. Named officers include Floyd L. Johnson Harry Byers Erma Jo King Wendel Bowyer and Marian E. Shire. Directors are Allen Johnson Byers Horton Haight Anderson and Thompson.
SAFFORD Arizona four youngsters on their way to a movie were killed when a careening truck struck them. Antonio Olivas, 63, was jailed on negligent homicide and DUI charges. Victims include Virgie Bracamontez 12 Andy 9 Patsy 7 Avelina 5 Roberto Bracamontez 8 Ray Arrellin 14. Their mother is dead. they live with grandparents.
Pro bate Judge John G. Hemphill told a Tioga Hotel dinner audience that juvenile delinquency has many contributing factors including broken homes crowded classrooms and excessive specialized activities. He urged parents schools civic groups churches and government units to share responsibility and offered steps like family goal setting adult education on public costs and recognizing youths' achievements.
The Royster elementary and advanced bands at Royster Junior High School will perform in the school auditorium at 8 p.m. Glenn D. Peake directs. Mrs. Kate Schlatter a 77 year old widow of McPherson died early today from injuries after a two car collision four miles north of McPherson on U S 81 late yesterday The crash occurred in the rural area surrounding the city and authorities investigated the事故 scene for details and cause.

Topeka news confirms Ford Voiland will resign as state printer at term end June 30. He will become executive vice president and director of Hall Lithographing Co. Gov. George Docking will appoint his successor. Voiland first won the post in 1944 while with the Red Cross overseas.
The State Board of Penal Institutions debated replacing warden Arthur Hoffman with Tracy Hand of Leavenworth. Chairman Dan O. Cain proposed resignation by April 15, but Republican member Robert Turney argued Hoffman serves a four year term to June 16, 1955 and can be removed only for cause. Hoffman resisted noting short notice and possible July 1 changes with a new penal code.
Two Millbrae couples announce an amicable partner swap after divorces pursued in Reno. Martin Brooks and Dr Frank Schwartz say their wives Jean and Betty left for divorces, while Brooks and Schwartz will relocate. Four Brooks children and two Schwartz children are affected as families remain connected through visits.
Gov. George Docking signed a new Kansas speed limit law setting 70 mph by day and 60 mph at night. The highway commission can create variable zones. the limits do not apply to the Turnpike. Docking vetoed bills on funding interstate work relocations and employee voting time off, and on rental limits for county machinery.
State Accident Records Section reports no incidents in the last 24 hours. For 1957 year to date fatalities total 136, compared with 161 in the same period in 1956.

Kenneth F. Brandt, 36, was impaled when his car struck a fence in suburban Morton Grove. A two inch pipe pierced his chest as the fence top rail was driven through the car. He was cut free and taken to St Francis Hospital Evanston in critical condition.
