Early Grange Meeting Discusses Fire Districts and Education

At the March 24 Grange gathering in Bloomingburg attendance topped fifty with visitors from Bullville. Plans included a May Past Masters Night and a county Pomona meeting set for March 26 at Rockland. Discussions covered life insurance for Grange members, requirements to honor status, and the need for a village fire district with equipment. Speakers included Blake Winter and Miss Ethel Brewster on farming and teaching futures.

Miss Mary Clark Visits Lake Station

March 19 report notes Miss Mary Clark spent Thursday in town and several autoists parked in mud holes between Lake and Sugar Loaf while roads were passable. A. H. Berger bought the Carrie K. Baker estate at Sugar Loaf. Several school children are ill with mumps. Mrs. H. Littell and daughter Hattie visited Mrs. J. A. Simms.

Sugar Season Opens as Sap Taps Yield Sweet Maple

Lois Fitzgerald chosen as a show model. Flavin of S. S. Seward Institute Faculty visited New York City. Joseph Finnegan shipped horses from Iowa. buyers include Gov. Pinchot, Robert Goelet, Paterson silk maker Scherdell, August Strey. Arthur Adams of Mason City helps with horse purchases. Elks dance in Middletown Thursday night.
