Cornwall community items cover a beefsteak supper at the Methodist Church, a postponed Boy Scouts screening, high school sports and debates, a charity supper, church socials, evangelistic campaign plans, local property transfers, and various local residents’ activities in Cornwall on and around March 24.
Howard D. Seely of Goshen elected vice president of the Orange County Agricultural Board to succeed the late John J Eden at a Middletown Chamber of Commerce meeting. The board plans to focus on agricultural shows expanding the flower department and an entire building for display. Benjamin B. Strong of Goshen and A. Schriver of Chester to assist in show arrangements with a possible radio feature for the exhibit.
Louis Diana a Goshen merchant is hospitalized with a fractured right leg and facial injuries after being struck by a car on Murray avenue as he alighted from a vehicle and stopped in front of another car. The driver Charles A Reeves Jr stopped and assisted by neighbors. Diana, a Goshen High student, was enroute to a St Patrick's event when injured.
Russell Jenkins faced Police Justice H B Merritt on a charge of stealing money last October from a drawer at the Farmers Hotel on Greenwich Avenue Goshen and then disappeared. The case was adjourned for one week. Jenkins, last seen in Midvale New Jersey, was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Stanley Golemboski, son-in-law of the hotel owner Zelinski, as he tracked him near the square.
An Orange county jury quickly decided in favor of James Y. Dwyer for 450.39 in a milk dispute with William W. Schultz over shipments to Greenville in 1923. Schultz admitted nonpayment but claimed Dwyer owed 590.93, while Dwyer denied any contract and said milk must be bought through the Dairymen's League.
Surrogate Elwood C. Smith issues letters testamentary and administration on multiple New York estates. Names include Herbert H. Case Port Jervis Ella L. Dowe Middletown and Amanda M Wunder Dear Park. Also notices for Thomas H. Lee Milton Orr and George Wells. Decrees issued in the settlements of William L. Shaffer and Frank W. Doxey cases.
Goshen Club sent 25 representatives to face the Tuxedo Fire Department in a general tournament Friday evening. Goshen won four of six games including checkers bridge euchre and pool, while Tuxedo took pinochle and bowling. Refreshments followed and both sides expect a return match on a future date.
Local brief reports a home talent play will be held Friday at the K of P hall under the Parent-Teacher Association. Reserve seating is at M Osborne's store. Other notes include births, church services, and weekly weather outlook for March 21 to 26.
An advertisement seeks women in cities and towns to become agents for four home selling preparations. It promises profits, a permanent business, and repeat sales. Agents are wanted in surrounding villages and R F D routes for the Newburgh area.
The case of Raymond Gerald, a Newburgh youth charged with grand larceny in the second degree for auto theft on October 25, 1926, is in County Court at Goshen. District Attorney Lemon prosecutes, William F. Stanton defends, and the jury includes local residents from Port Jervis to Circleville. The trial is adjourned to this afternoon after a period of respect for the late Frank J. Nearn of Central Valley.
Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Meadow Brook plans its annual congregational meeting on March 29 with a devotional at 10 am lunch at noon and a 2 pm business session to elect three trustees to replace Dennis ton Cooper and Benedict whose terms end April 1.

Michael Labyonne of Worcester was arraigned on abandonment in County Court. His attorney said Labyonne earns 18 a week and seeks divorce, but he would support his two children if his wife would live in Worcester. Judge Wiggins ordered Labyonne to pay 9 weekly support plus half of any excess wage up to 12, with bond set at 500.
