Volunteers deliver thousands of meals in Bertram flood relief
In Bertram Township Hall volunteers formed the Bertram Brown Bag Committee to feed flood evacuees and workers. About 2,800 meals were served Sunday, 2,200 Monday, and 1,700 Tuesday to National Guard Cedar Rapids armory, energy clinics, fire stations, hotels, shelters, and others. The effort grew from community generosity, with local businesses donating items and Facebook coordinating needs. Berberich, a stroke survivor, says the project shows Cedar Rapids’ resilience and will continue until no longer needed.
