Donna Brechtel, 12, handles a hand made wooden oat scoop at an Ossian service station while awaiting a school bus. The scoop, likely over 100 years old, was purchased at an antique auction by Bob Carey who displays it and has received a $200 offer from a collector.
Funeral services for Amanda Blayney 76 and Mayo Davenport 69, two Anamosa women killed in a three car crash on Highway 30 near Cedar Rapids, are scheduled Wednesday at the Goettsch funeral home. Blayney will be buried at Green Center Cemetery near Anamosa. Davenport at Riverside Cemetery.
A public meeting at the Traer Memorial building Tuesday at 8 p.m. will discuss creating a new ambulance service in Traer. A committee reports used ambulances cost about $6,000 and new ones about $13,000, with funding and staffing as the main hurdles to overcome.
