Garden gardener Dale Cooke grows a mile of fruit and flowers
Dale Cooke, a 66 year old Riverside Home resident, began with tomato seeds from a sandwich and built a mile long garden. Staff say the garden keeps him healthy and engaged, inspiring other residents to cultivate plants and animals around the 17 acre campus. Cooke shares produce with staff and uses funds to buy tools. He formerly farmed in New Jersey and later joined city programs before a stroke left him with a cane.
