Widow Swindled Out of 700000 By Bank Impostors
In San Francisco an elderly Pacific Heights widow lost nearly 700000 in negotiable and nonnegotiable bonds after two men posed as bank officials. A supposed Wells Fargo investigator named Lt Edwards and an examiner named Mason orchestrated a scheme involving a home visit and taxi transport to retrieve the bonds from her safe deposit box. The pair escorted the woman to the bank and disappeared with the contents, leaving her to discover the fraud hours later.
