Regis Dominates Ottumwa 34–0 For 2–0 Royals

Regis high school remained undefeated with a 34 to 0 win over Ottumwa at Kingston stadium. The Royals move to 2-0 on the season as Coach Tom Good expressed some dissatisfaction with a sputtering offense while Ottumwa coach Chuck Harnisch called his team opportunists.

Opportunists Roll in 34-0 rout over Regina

Ottumwa tallied twice in the first half and added a third quarter surge to lead 34-0. Key plays included a 73 yard drive capped by Bill Corrigan, Dan Martin’s fumble recovery, and Bob Beals scoring from four. Regis penalties and miscues bogged their attack. Kirk Englehart’s misplay at the 22 aided Ottumwa’s bid.

First Black Umpire to Major League Debut in NL

Art Williams of Bakersfield California will become the National League’s first Black umpire. Promoted from the International League he will umpire his first major league game next Monday in San Diego. Williams, a Camden Arkansas native, has four seasons as a minor league umpire and worked in the Midwest League in 1970.
