Complaint about airport minority goals sparks FAA complaint
Cedar Rapids Airport faces a formal complaint over minority business participation in a $735,206 construction project. Russell Collins alleges the 4 percent MBE target was not met, while airport manager Roy Jameson says the 4 percent goal was surpassed, possibly 4.02 percent, and that the lower 2.3 percent bid target was rounded to 4 percent. An FAA review and potential further action are anticipated.

Grand opening of Linn County trail proceed despite injunction threat
Rails to Trails head Mary Combellick says the Cedar Valley Nature Trail opening from Hiawatha to the county line will go ahead September 18 even if the Jordans win an injunction over the abandoned right of way on their Robins farm. A detour may route riders around the disputed land to avoid safety risks on dusty county roads. The march from Cedar Rapids to Center Point is unaffected.
