Cedar Rapids to fund Indian Creek flood study
City public works director Dave Elgin will ask the City Council to approve a $400000 local cost for a comprehensive Indian Creek flood study covering the 93 square mile watershed. The 2002 flood prompted Corps review and $200000 in matching funds. this effort could proceed without other jurisdictions.

Iowa City Shelter to Get $2.6 Million I-JOBS Grant
Governor Culver announced a $2.6 million I-JOBS grant for Shelter House of Iowa City to fund a new 70 bed homeless shelter at 429 Southgate Ave. The funding, part of a $10 million statewide package for 16 shelters, will replace the 29 bed facility at 331 N. Gilbert St. The project had been stalled awaiting funding.
